Myspace Marriage?

This does not have much to do with bridal parties and such, but I just received an email from theknot.com, and it caught my attention. Expecting to read about a couple who gets married via ichat or skype, I was mistaken.

After clicking on the link and reading a little about it, I have found that the couple is not getting married over Myspace like the ad hinted. What they are doing is leaving every detail of the wedding up the the viewers and voters on Myspace.

Myspace and reality TV have teamed up to show a couple who wants to get married, but is taking a risk and letting the world make the decisions about their wedding.

Viewers votes for the dress, cake, location, bachelor/bachelorette party ect. Decisions are completely up to them! After choosing from three couples, Myspace users chose Elle and Tito, an adorable couple from Pennsylvania.

A wedding planner from theknot.com is helping Elle and Tito plan the event. With the help of Myspace video, the entire event will be captured and posted on Myspace and theknot. This 13 week wedding will be a challenging one, but it should be quite interesting how Myspace users vote!

Having other people choose the specifics of a wedding is a huge risk. It is shocking to find that three couples would actually agree to something like that, and in only a 13 week time limit!

  1. That's kind of cool but at the same time I just feel like society in general today has devalued marriage as a whole. Now with shows like "Bridezilla" as well as what you've just mentioned, it's totally disgusting.

  2. I agree also marriage has been devalued. I just cannot believe how ridiculous this bride and groom are. what ever happened to making your own decisions, and doing things yourself. I think that if they are mature enough to get married then they should be able to plan their own wedding. whats next will they have a marriage on myspace allowing people into their lives, voting on their every disagreement.

  3. If the couple in question is in love and are serious about their marriage then its probaly not a bad ideal to let someone else to plan your wedding.especially with the high cost of weddings these days.

  4. This couple will be divorced in 3 years. After they spent the account to the bone and gone on every free trip that was given to them by the sponsors. Reality marriages now...what's next, reality executions? (think of the ratings!)

  5. I guarantee this couple will not make it 5 years. Marriage has become a joke. People blame gay marriage for screwing marriage up, I blame television shows like the bachelorette, bachelor cheaters and all of the other garbage shows that be on television.
